Travel-Ads

When you are in the travel business, promoting it is your prime concern. Of all the media options – electronic, outdoor, POP, press and others – press (which includes magazines), especially newspapers, are the most cost-effective. In India, they reach all corners of the country in every language, even those spoken in strange and unrecognisable dialects. Newspaper ads also have a staying power because they are available for instant reference as long as the newspaper itself remains in the stockpile of the home or office where it was originally delivered. This is not the case with most other kinds of media which may be gone after simply flashing their messages.

As a travel agency you might be offering a public service that provides travel- and tourism-related services to the interested public on behalf of suppliers of such services as flight details, car rentals, cruise lines, hotels, railway movements and travel insurance along with package tour options. Besides ordinary tourists, you might have specialists devoted to making travel arrangements for business travellers or specialising only in business and commercial travel. Your business might serve as general sales agents for foreign travel companies, helping them to open operations in countries other than their own.

In such a situation, to promote your business and attract more custom, you obviously need to depend on Travel Advertisements in selected newspapers (see Travel Ad Samples attached). For your convenience, these are of three formats:

Classified Text: This cheapest option of advertising is in the form of simple text ads in the classified section. These are printed on the classified pages in run-on-line (ROL) text format. At extra cost, enhancements like screen, tick, colour can be made for more visibility. Ads are charged @ Rs/number of words/lines/character subject to the newspaper’s policies.

Classified Display: This costlier option is charged @ Rs per square cm of the area used for the advertisement. There is a constraint to the size of Classified Display (CD) Ads, but, to enhance the advertisement, it can be customised using logo, image, different fonts and colour. Classified Display Ads appear on a specific page or supplement of the newspaper.

Display: This costliest option has no constraints about the sizes of the ads and is also charged @ Rs per square cm of the area used for the advertisement. One can choose Full Page, Half Page, Quarter Page or any other size of ad besides the Page and Position.
